Cops and Kids: Success was a team effort

After months of fundraising efforts throughout the community in November and December of 2016, the Cops and Kids program pulled in more than $9,000, which far surpassed the goal that had been set.

Cops and Kids is an annual program where local law enforcement agencies come together for a big shopping day with dozens of kids and teens in Haywood County who are less fortunate.

Not only did citizens of Haywood County donate to the cause, but several businesses donated items aside from toys or money for the big shopping day.

Rikki Tikki Tees Screenprinting and Design donated T-shirts, cardigans, sweatshirts and polos.

Belk, CVS and Rite Aid also donated to the program this year—offering various toiletries.

Edward Jones, Kiwanis Club of Waynesville and Faith United Methodist Church played integral roles in making this year’s Cops and Kids event as successful as possible.
